1939 Bickle-Seagrave Fire Truck

Welcome to a little Canadian Fire History. On July 18th, 1939 The Reeve Councel,Township of Whitney, Porcupine Ontario, Canada contracted with the Bickle-Seagrave Limited company to purchase "One Bickle Ford 2-ton fire apparatus per specifications". The total cost was $2611, which is about $46,000 in 2018 dollars.

Rebuilding a Workhorse


Sometime around the year 2000 this truck was rebuild. It was a frame off restore and the quality of the work is outstanding!


This is what a 79 year old Fire Truck looks like today.



Still running fine, with a top speed of 30mph!

The Original Purchase Order.



On July 18th, 1939 the Township of Whitney submitted a "Proposal for Fire Apparatus" to Bickle-Seagrave Limited

Restored: 1933 Ford Model BB Wrecker



Phil Gravelle, a mechanic near Scotland, Ontario, was responsible for the 5 year restoration project. The truck was restored using materials from a wide range of sources. Gravelle repainted and detailed the old Ford, and constructed the truck box in his own shop.

Restored: "Innes Cunningham" tractor



Phil Gravelle also restored this old military tractor before senting it to the War Museum in Ottawa.
